Single white male with long and completely irrelevant past seeking irretrievable self which he may or may have not lost depending on which sock you ask. If you ask the black sock (presumed lost at sea during the laundering incident of 1992), no doubt, (s)he will tell you all about the meaning of tragedy with respect to past and future selves. The white one cannot be found for questioning and is wanted by the FBI on several counts of cotton-abduction. Owner of said socks offers eight dollar reward to anyone interested in pretending knowledge of earlier mentioned self. If self cannot be obtained, small aardvarks are satisfactory.

Look to your socks, friends, for they know the shape of a foot and the cause of wear and tear. Look to your own socks, friends, and be sure to remove the belly-button lint from thine own drier before critiquing another's unless you critique it in proper MLA style with an eye toward grammar and spelling.

Blue sock to Red sock:

So buy some crap from Patagonia.  Read self-help books but pee on your neighbor's new couch.  The first lie is the best, most subtle, least funny one- lets have a contest.  Backwards pants are in style, I hear.  Buy a Prius, fly around Europe giving ecology seminars, write a self-help novel and shop at Walmart.  Buy organic carrots from California and vote moderate democrat for a regulated idiocy against the industrial idiocy of moderate republicans.

Or, question everything. 

There are things that exist in this world only in the minds of people as belief.  A corporation is not made up of its employees and chairmen- but of its consumers.  A government is not composed of beurocrats and politicians- but of the belief of its citizens.  Anything that transfers individual responsiblilty to a group- question that thing.  Be wary of salespersons- especially yourself.

Red sock replies:

Mockery is a bad disease, dude, even if a good remedy.  What you reject you become.  Look at me!  I'm a talking sock for christ's sake!  If only I hadn't rejected my inner sock nature… better to accept a thing and be aware of it than to reject it and hide its image within some inner closet, festering.  Blue, you got it right with direction and wrong in angst.  What keen edge you have, turn it to your own polymer fabric rather than your neighbor's.  If Rosalind lies about her colour, know that the shoe comes off sooner or later!
